A demonstrator consisting of an innovative prototype hydroelectric generation system has been built on the island of Lipari at the desalination plant. This system has the great advantage of installation and management simplicity, providing a 5.5 kW hydroelectric microturbine with an asynchronous generator connected directly in parallel to the power grid. A dedicated SCADA system was also developed for this demonstrator to implement the new remote monitoring and control logic of the generation system.
